50,000 Guwahatians to be Tested for Coronavirus

GUWAHATI: Given the recent spread of COVID-19 in the city on people without any travel or contact history, the Assam Government will be testing 50,000 people in the city. 

As such public swab collection  will be conducted at 12 different centres in the city where people can get tested for COVID-19.

These 12 centres will be opened on 15th June from  9 am onwards.

2. Mahendra Mohan Choudhary Hospital OPD

3. Dhirenpara FRU

4. Pandu FRU

5. Ulubari Urban Hospital

6. Dispur Capital Dispensary

7. Khanapara State Dispensary (6th mile)

8. Bhetapara State Dispensary

9. Lokhra State Dispensary

10. Bamuni Maidam (East Guwahati) State Dispensary

People who wish to get tested can visit the centers. Also the health department will be contacting the pharmacies for details of people buying medicine for fever in the next few days. Such people night be tested for COVID-19 if required.

"After testing 50,000 people if a sizeable number is found positive then the state government might consider another phase of lockdown," said the health minister.

Also the government is considering changing curfew timing from 9 pm to 7 pm onwards. However, the decision has not yet been made.
