GUWAHATI: Assam has allowed for one-time inter-district movement to ease tensions and thousands of people had applied for the same.
A total of 48,777 passes were issued for people with private vehicles while 50,626 forms are under scrutiny, informed state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Around 1 lakh people will be benefitted as a whole, said the minister. Further, more than 1600 ASTC buses are in service for the same. It is to be mentioned that inter-district travel has been extended till 2 May.
“We are trying our best to accommodate all who have applied. We have requested the civil aviation to bring back people from Assam stranded outside back to state,” said Sarma adding that the government is planning to bring back as many people from Assam as possible.
