22% of Assam’s New COVID-19 Cases Detected from Kamrup Metro

GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 767 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, October 16. 


G Plus spoke to Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who revealed that out of the 767 cases, 174 are from Kamrup (Metro) district.


The cases were detected from all across the state, out of 34,714 COVID tests conducted. This was informed by the Himanta Biswa Sarma via social media post.


Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sarma wrote, "767 cases detected out of 34,714 tests with positivity rate of 2.21%. 931 patients discharged." 


With 931 patients discharged from various hospitals within the last 24 hours, active cases in Assam stands at 28,630 while 1,99,749 persons have been cured of the virus. 


The COVID-19 death toll in Assam stands at 853.
