GUWAHATI: A total of 15 state universities of Assam are all set to start 4-year Undergraduate (UG) programmes from this academic year as stated by the Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on June 15.
Ranoj Pegu took to Twitter to put out, “All the 15 state Universities of Assam are starting 4-Year UG Program from this academic year.”
As per a decision undertaken by the UGC, 105 universities in the country are starting 4-Year UG Programmes from the new academic session.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a draft curriculum framework for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP). Universities and colleges will now offer 4-year undergraduate degrees with multiple exit and entry options.
This programme was supposed to be implemented in all higher education institutions from the academic session 2022-23 but has now been planned for this academic session. The new structure to be introduced is according to the National Education Policy, 2020, and will overhaul the three-year undergraduate curriculum that was being implemented for more than three decades.
