GUWAHATI: The 10th edition of the Guwahati Food Awards, hosted by GPlus, concluded successfully on December 22, 2024, at Vivanta, Guwahati. This prestigious event honoured the exceptional talent and innovation in the culinary and hospitality industry, reinforcing Guwahati’s reputation as a food lover’s paradise.
In his opening address, Sunit Jain, Director of Guwahati Food Awards and Publisher of GPlus, expressed his pride in the event’s decade-long journey. “Celebrating a decade of culinary excellence, this year’s awards have truly been extraordinary. The 10th edition marked a significant milestone, showcasing unmatched enthusiasm from the community. As we reflect on this journey, we remain steadfast in our commitment to driving innovation and honouring the best in the culinary world.”
The night was made even more special with Rocky Singh, the renowned food and travel influencer, gracing the event as the Chief Guest. Known for his unmatched culinary expertise and his role in the popular show Highway on My Plate, Singh added charm and insight to the occasion. Acclaimed actor Neil Bhoopalam took the stage as the Celebrity Host, captivating the audience with his wit and charisma along with our very own Reeky Sharma.
“I have been visiting Guwahati for the last 30 years and I’ve witnessed Guwahati’s transforming from a quaint town to a bustling urban hub, marked by remarkable changes. Among these, the evolution of its food culture stands out as both critical and fascinating. In a city like Guwahati, where tradition holds deep roots, the willingness to embrace change often comes at a slower pace. However, as everyone here at the Food Awards will agree, change remains the only constant—and it’s this delicate balance between preserving tradition and embracing innovation that shapes our culinary identity,” Rocky Singh said while addressing the gathering.
The 2024 edition witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 3.5 lakh votes cast across 30 categories through the Guwahati Food Awards website and GPlus App. This reflects the growing engagement and enthusiasm of the community in celebrating the best of Guwahati’s food culture.
Social media was abuzz with excitement on the night of the Guwahati Food Awards, as posts and stories poured in celebrating the city’s vibrant culinary scene and its shining stars.
For the first time in its history, the Guwahati Food Awards hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion on the evolving food scene in the city. The topic, “The Food Scene: Trends and Innovation in Guwahati,” brought together an illustrious panel featuring Rocky Singh, Kaushik Barua, Chiranjeev Brahma, and Aabhishek Bedi Varma. The conversation was moderated by Sunit Jain, Publisher of GPlus, which provided interesting insights regarding the Food and Beverage industry.
